General Guidelines
The following are general guidelines to be followed by organizations while applying for exemptions:
Organizations applying for exemptions are requested to register through their official email ID only.
The documents to be uploaded under the “Project and Product Details” and “Previous Procurement Details” should be as per the Excel template uploaded on the portal.
Under the “Justification and Documents” tab, exemption justification refers to the presence of any document (report or study conducted through a third party) which indicates the non-availability of the product domestically.
If the project proponent is an EPC contractor, then the details of the EPC contractor must be mentioned in the “Project and Product Details” section.
Under the type of exemptions, below are the details for each category:
Technical: The production technology corresponding to the grade is not available in India.
Capacity: Production technology is available but not in the required quantity to cater to domestic demand.
Urgent Requirement: Production technology and capacity are available, but the lead time is much higher than imports.
Strategic: Organizations having mandatory offtake agreements with external parties.
